Dear reader,

I’m writing this article a little slower than usual since I sliced off a very little chunk of one of my fingers last night when making dinner. I’ve managed to dry the wound, and that finger on my left hand is now taped to the little finger next to it so that I’m more conscious of it. Hopefully it means I won’t accidentally use it when typing. My left hand is not quite as mobile as it would normally be when typing.

One good outcome is finding out that I would faint very quickly if I was tortured. That’s a relief. As the pain kicked in when I removed the dressing from last night, I got very light-headed. I’m not quite sure why as it’s not the most painful thing I’ve felt. It might have just been because it was first thing in the morning.

Anyway, this isn’t really relevant to you, so on with today’s musings ;)

My attention has recently been grabbed by one word that appears in the Bible. It’s in the most prayed Christian prayer. How we understand it has solid implications for what we think we’re asking for.

I hate to be that guy, but I need to say that what it’s probably saying is not what most of us who have grown up in largely Protestant evangelical circles have predominantly heard in sermons. It’s way more interesting!

That’s not to say that what we’ve heard preached isn’t valid and good… it’s just that there’s more to be explored. So let’s do it. You’re going to have to forgive me here for geeking out on translation a bit in order to make the point.
