Dear reader,

Today’s Lettera File is a thought I had before our Good Friday broadcast on Newstalk ZB. Our first hour was on prayer, so I had been pondering it during the day. I had been contemplating how I would define it for a diverse audience that might capture some of their experiences without falling into the oft touted definition that it’s talking to God. It is, in part, but there’s so much more. I wanted a broader idea.

What I’ve typed is not a full definition of prayer - that’s not possible. It’s a simple, broad thought that I found helpful to use on-air on Friday.

I publish a Lettera File every Wednesday. They are typed on my Olivetti Lettera 32 (pictured above). There are typos and formatting issues because I’m using a typewriter where I can’t easily correct things. Though this time, I think I’ve managed it with no typos. A lack of camera focus on one part of the page does not equal a typo.

This feature is always a short thought for contemplation whether you agree, disagree, or anything in between.
